Hi, I’m Rachel (she, her, hers)

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about myself and my practice. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have extensive experience working with clients experiencing relationship difficulties, coping with life transitions, survivors of abuse and trauma, and other general anxieties. I mainly work with elementary age children, adolescence, and young-middle aged adults.

I graduated with a MS from California Polytechnic State University in 2019. Since then I have worked in the non profit world, in elementary schools, on college campuses and in both office and Telehealth settings with clients of all ages. I have been trained specifically in trauma informed care, play therapy, art therapy, gestalt therapy, and mindfulness practices. I find that these are all skills I commonly use with my clients.

I work with clients in person half of the week and virtually the other half, which allows for some flexibility when scheduling weekly appointments. I offer a free phone consultation where we can assess if I would be a good fit for your therapy journey, and if not I am more than happy to point you in the right direction!

I would be happy to answer any more questions you may have about myself, my practice, my therapeutic approach or my background. Thank you for considering me and I hope to hear from you soon!

My Approach

In my practice, I emphasize using evidence based treatments in my approach to therapy. The training I have sought out and received is largely based in research that proves effectiveness in reducing undesirable symptoms and increasing a clients ability to cope. I tend to use treatment modalities based in CBT, Gottman, trauma informed therapy, and Gestalt and Systems based practices.

Past these treatment modalities, I am a firm believer that an increased level of awareness into our own internal world is essential to making long lasting changes. It allows for us to better understand our emotions, reactions, the way we tend to handle various situations, and how all of these affect eachother. When we better understand those things, it is then easier to find coping skills that work for each individual person, and when we find what works well for us, it is more likely to become a long lasting change.

While I am informed in my therapeutic approach by evidence based practices, I have come to realize that we are all the experts of our own lives, and I make every effort to respect that you are the expert in your own experience. In the therapy room, I strive to join the client in their experience and use the knowledge and understanding of clinical research to support the client in finding the paths to their goals.
